School age children with special needs often need additional supports to be successful in childcare. Participants will learn about child development theorists and how this information can help them provide quality to children of all abilties. Participants will learn strategies to implement to create a more inclusive and accommodating environment, which addresses behavior management for all children (individual vs. group). Participants will examine IEP's and 504 Plans and how these impact school age programs (the role of the provider, how to use the information contained within the plans, what to do when they aren't included in plans) Participants will also examine how physical settings and environment considerations can impact a child's success within their program.
